Pastor Kefentse Risher is a native of Houston, Texas. After years of running and denial, he finally answered the call to become a pastor in 2009 under the leadership of Pastor Robert G. Johnson, then Sr. Pastor of New World Church. During his time as an associate pastor, he served in all capacities…worship director, head of the men’s ministry and prayer ministry, and head of the setup and break down of the church facility just to name a few. He served as associate pastor of New World Church for 6 years before accepting his first assignment as lead pastor of Grace United Methodist and New Zion United Methodist Church in Sweeny, Texas. He later received a new assignment from the District Superintendent that would send him to Huntsville, Texas. He began serving as pastor of Pleasant Grove UMC in 2016 and was installed as Sr. Pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church in July 2018.
Pastor Risher has a down to earth approach to ministry and a practical approach to the word of God. More than anything he is known as a man who truly has a heart for God. Pastor Risher believes in a direct and practical approach to the word of God that is simple to understand. He believes “The word of God stands on its own…It’s my job to not get in the way of that”. His humble approach to ministry keeps him open to what God has to say and it keeps him excited about what God is going to do in the life of the church. Pastor Risher can be seen in the Huntsville community serving God and displaying the love Christ on a regular basis because he believes that “the loudest sermon we can ever preach is the way we show love to God’s people.”
